Tour Information


The Bus Tour to Mars is an all day, guided, excursion to view various sites located on the central plateau of Washington that correlate to features found on Luna and Mars. The tour will be taken in a full-size tour bus, seating is limited. Conducting the tour will be Dr. John Buchanan from Eastern Washington University's Geology program (Be sure and check out John's CCD Imaging page). Register for this tour early, seats are expected to fill rapidly. Several stops are planned and you should expect to do some walking.

 


In order to reserve a seat on this tour, you must be registered for ASTROCON-99. If you are not registered, no seat will be reserved for you. All seating is on a first come basis. There are only 40 seats available.

  • Tour Date: Thursday, July 15
  • Tour Time: Leave - 8:00AM (or earlier), Return - 4-5:00PM
  • Tour Cost: $25.00 (Includes Lunch and Beverages)
  • Tour Stops: Grand Coulee, Dry Falls, Ephrata Fan, West Bar and More...
  • Tour Leader/Guide: Dr. John Buchanan
  • Tour - Personal Items: Sunscreen, Head Covering, Walking Shoes/Boots, Sunglasses, Camera
  • Tour Bus: Comfortable seating, Air conditioned, On-board restroom
  • Come prepared to spend a full day traveling and viewing the various geological features of the central plateau. This tour will cover about 300 miles and lunch will be served enroute.
